Zaphod, a character that I found hilariously unpredictable in the first installment, in this one I found extremely grumpy and frankly highly unpleasant to bear. Maybe the first book set a too high standard, impossible to reach. Maybe the surprise was lost, maybe the humor didn’t nail it like the first time. Unfortunately, for various reasons, this sequel didn’t really cut it.
